Loyola School celebrated the spirit of sportsmanship and dedication through a special assembly held on 25th August, in anticipation of National Sports Day, observed every year on 29th August to commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s legendary hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand – the Wizard of Hockey.
Through an engaging presentation, the students highlighted the remarkable journey of Major Dhyan Chand and his extraordinary contribution to Indian hockey. The assembly beautifully showcased how his determination, discipline and dedication helped him achieve greatness, even when resources were limited.
A special highlight of the assembly was the story poem, “The Wizard of Hockey,” presented by the students of Class 7B. Through their powerful recitation, the students brought alive the inspiring story of the hockey legend and conveyed the message that dedication, perseverance and passion are the true foundations of success.
The assembly concluded with an inspiring interaction and a reminder to students to embrace an active lifestyle, participate in sports and understand that true victory lies not only in winning but also in discipline, teamwork, courage and the willingness to keep trying.
The assembly served as a meaningful reminder of Major Dhyan Chand’s timeless legacy and inspired our young Loyoleans to discover their own sporting spirit.
