Jamshedpur celebrates Feast of St. Ignatius

Loyola School, Jamshedpur celebrated the Feast of St. Ignatius with reverence and joy, honouring the founder of the Society of Jesus who continues to inspire generations. The event was graced by Mr. K.V. Vincent (Chief Guest), Colonel Earnest Paul (Guest of honour), Fr. KM Joseph (Rector), Fr. Vinod Fernandes (Principal), along with Fr. Cyril Tigga, Fr. Victor Misquith and Vice-Principals Ms. Jayanthi Sheshadri and Ms. Vineeta Ekka. The highlights of the day included a heartfelt prayer dance, a video tribute to St. Ignatius, a soulful poem and musical performances, and a vibrant folk dance celebrating Jesuit work with tribal communities. A special Ignatian Quiz tested students’ knowledge of Jesuit heritage and values, fostering healthy competition and engagement. Apart from the celebrations, the day assumed special importance as two meaningful initiatives were inaugurated --One focused on skill-building and the other on social responsibility. The Skills Lab (Protean Resource Center) was inaugurated to promote hands-on learning and practical education. Loyola is the first school in the country to get such a high tech lab with the latest technology. This initiative will launch the students on an exciting trajectory which will equip them for the future. Meanwhile , in another initiative by Loyola Alumni Association, a Blood Donation Camp was organized encouraging the Loyola community to contribute for a noble cause. Fr Vinod Fernandes lead the way by donating blood. The celebration also marked a significant milestone as Fr. KM Joseph’s Silver Jubilee of priesthood was honoured. The school magazine, The Loyolean, was officially released, showcasing student creativity, thought, and achievement. The day ended with a sumptuous lunch hosted by the priests for the teachers, staff and support staff. Loyola School extends heartfelt thanks to all dignitaries, performers, faculty members, and students who contributed to making Loyola Day 2025 a celebration of faith, excellence, and community.
